AT 14-001_FA22: Does global poverty make you uncomfortable? Do you want to help eradicate human misery while earning a profit? National governments, non-governmental and charitable institutions have come to realize that they are limited in their ability to alleviate global poverty. Charity, support, pressure or shaming are not likely to create sustainable growth. In this course, we will learn that private sector has a critical role to play in uplifting almost 4 Billion people who live on less than $2.00 a day. How corporations cater to these invisible and underserved micro consumers? How private companies, be they large or small, develop and execute market-based solutions for the poorest consumers? Eliminating poverty through profits can lead to more tangible results. This course will discuss the role of corporate entities that are practicing a `new social compact? in market-based solutions for the poorest consumers.
