AT 3-001_FA22: Throughout the 20th Century, Italian filmmakers have made significant contributions to world cinema. In this course, we will discover the ways in which film is an expression of Italian social, political and aesthetic values and traditions. We will explore the development of the Italian film industry, post-war social and political movements, and the role of cinema in the search for an Italian national identity. We will watch, analyze, and reflect upon a wide variety of Italian films by distinguished Italian directors including Vittorio DeSica, Roberto Rossellini, Federico Fellini and Michelangelo Antonioni.
