We will explore the development of the Italian film industry, post-war social and political movements, and the role of cinema in the search for an Italian national identity. We will watch, analyze, and reflect upon a wide variety of Italian films by distinguished Italian directors including Alessandro Blasetti, Vittorio DeSica, Roberto Rossellini, and Federico Fellini.
